Guido Girl is a moving and comical coming-of-age memoir about a young woman’s desire to get out of the Bronx!

From the deck of the Italian cruise liner, the Andrea Doria, to the lights of Broadway and beyond, Guido Girl is the story of one woman’s struggle to realize her destiny, follow her dreams, and learn to forgive an oppressive past. How do you go forward when everyone else is holding you back? Or when the only one really standing in your way is…you? It’s a feast of characters as we follow writer and performer Marianne Ferrari through her Fellini-meets-John-Patrick-Shanley-style tale, complete with all the accessories any Guido Girl could ever dream of – music, love, sex, ambition…and tanning, makeup, and boys.

The show began as a story exercise for esteemed acting teacher Larry Moss, at the Larry Moss Studio in Santa Monica, California in November 2001. It was then workshopped in the Phidias Women Festival at the Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, California in November 2004. It was produced by Ivonne Coll and directed by Ashley Osler. In July 2005, the Los Angeles theatre company Theatre East produced a workshop of the show at the Lex Theatre in Hollywood, California. It was directed by Freddy Douglas. The show was then included in the 17x13 One Act Festival in May 2006, produced again by Theatre East and directed by Freddy Douglas. It received an extended run and ran on the same stage through July 2006.
